The Living Room provides an alternative to hospital emergency rooms for adults experiencing psychiatric emergencies.
The Living Room, located at Memorial Behavioral Health at 710 N. Eighth St. in Springfield, is free and available to anyone over the age of 18. It is open from noon to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Living Room offers a safe and calming atmosphere where guests can receive support from peer and mental health professionals. Upon arrival, guests will answer a few questions and then will be linked with a peer counselor.
The Living Room offers:
- Safe, calm space
- Crisis intervention
- Safety planning
- Help connecting with healthcare, food and housing resources
- Support from professionals with mental health experience
- Access to internet
- Light refreshments
- Follow-up services
The Living Room is free and no appointment is needed.
